In Vedic practice a transit is judged from the natal chart: which natal house is Saturn passing through, counted from my Moon? How many bindus does that sign hold? AstroWatch answers both questions directly on the chart and in the Aṣṭakavarga views.
Gochar on the Kundli
Switch the dashboard to the Transit tab while a natal profile is open and a North, South or East Indian style is selected. Instead of showing the transit sky on its own, AstroWatch draws your natal chart — houses from your natal Lagna — and places the transiting planets into the signs they occupy now.
Gochar: natal Kundli with the transiting grahas in teal.
- Transiting planets are drawn in teal — the same colour as the transit ring on the wheel — with a small ᵗ after the abbreviation, and ᵣ when retrograde.
- Only the transit labels respond to the mouse here; hover one for its exact position.
- When a house gets crowded the text shrinks to fit.
- Uranus, Neptune and Pluto appear only if they're switched on in Settings → Planetary Bodies.
- Move the time slider and the transits move with it — a fast way to see when Saturn or Jupiter changes house.
With a divisional chart selected, the transits are mapped into that varga too, so you can watch Gochar in the Navamsa. Under Bhava Chalit, transits keep their rāśi signs. The Wheel style still uses the bi-wheel for transits, as before.
Aṣṭakavarga in brief
Aṣṭakavarga gives each sign a score from eight reference points (the seven grahas and the Lagna). Each planet's own table — its Bhinnāṣṭakavarga (BAV) — gives 0 to 8 bindus per sign; adding the seven tables gives the Sarvāṣṭakavarga (SAV), 337 bindus spread over the twelve signs. A sign with many bindus supports whatever transits it; a sign with few strains it. As a rule of thumb, 28 or more is strong and 24 or fewer is weak.
On the Expanded Chart
In Sidereal mode the Expanded Chart view's Aspect Grid card becomes an Aṣṭakavarga card.

Transit view — the gochara table
Open the Expanded Chart from the Transit tab and the card becomes Gochara · transit on natal SAV, one row per transiting graha:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| RĀŚI | The sign the planet is transiting (sign number) |
| MOON | The house it occupies counted from your natal Moon sign — the classical Gochara reference |
| LAGNA | The house it occupies counted from your natal Lagna |
| SAV | Your natal SAV bindus in that sign (green 30+, red 25 or fewer) |
| STRENGTH | A bar of the bindus |
| GOCHARA | Strong, Mixed or Weak |

Aṣṭakavarga dashboard card
For a permanent view, choose Aṣṭakavarga (SAV) for the LEFT · BOTTOM area of the Vedic layout in Customize Dashboard & Cards. The card draws twelve bars — one per house from the Lagna, with the sign glyph under each — and dashed guide lines at 28 and 24.
- The tabs SAV, Su, Mo, Ma, Me, Ju, Ve, Sa switch between the Sarvāṣṭakavarga and each planet's own BAV (guide lines at 5 and 3 for a single planet).
- Bars above the upper line are green, below the lower line red. Hover a bar for House 10 · Capricorn · 31 bindus.
- The footer lists the strong and weak houses and the total.
- On the Transit tab, each transiting planet (Rāhu and Ketu included) is tagged above the house it occupies, and the footer splits them into FAVOURABLE and WEAK — e.g. Ju H5·31. Pick a planet's tab to judge its transit against its own BAV.
