Synastry compares two people's charts — every aspect one person's planets make to the other's. Exporting one as a PDF doesn't need a Synastry ring set up on the wheel first (that's a separate, Pro-gated preset in Configure Wheels for viewing two charts overlaid on screen — see Multi-Wheel & Bi-Wheel): the export flow prompts you for the second person directly and builds the comparison on the spot.
Opening it
Two entry points, same result. Reports → Export Synastry Report is enabled whenever a natal profile is open — it needs no wheel or ring active first, unlike the four predictive reports on the previous page. New in v2.0.0, a Synastry pill in the Dashboard's subject bar (to the right of the Natal/Transit tabs) does exactly the same thing in one click.
Open a natal profile
Either entry point needs one open first. From the Dashboard, without one open, the Synastry pill answers with "Please open a Natal profile first to export the Synastry Report." — the Expanded Chart View's own menu item phrases the same requirement as "Open a natal profile first, then export a synastry report."
Pick the second person
The same profile picker used elsewhere in AstroWatch opens so you can choose who to compare against. Picking the same profile that's already open is refused with a short prompt to choose someone different.
Choose a style, save, done
The same Classic/Celestial chooser and save-file picker as Export Natal Report. The default filename uses both people's full names — "AstroWatch - Name A & Name B - Synastry Report.pdf".
Compatibility at a Glance
New in v2.0.0: chapter 1 is no longer a plain opener — it's a Compatibility at a Glance signature page, built the same way Predictive Reports' own opening page is (see Predictive Reports), just comparing two charts instead of a chart against a moving ring:
- Overall Connection — a single 0–98% gauge summarising the whole comparison.
- Harmony vs Friction — a second gauge splitting the connection between easy and tense contacts, weighted by how favourable or difficult each aspect is.
- Elemental Blend — the dominant element across both people's strongest cross-chart aspects.
- Strongest Connections — the top three cross-aspects between the two charts, each with a short note on whether it flows easily, runs tense, or is simply a strong mutual link.
- Key House Overlay — where the second person's Sun falls among your own houses, read as the life area their presence most naturally engages.
This chapter replaces whatever opened a Synastry export before v2.0.0; every life-area chapter after it follows the same Report Manager layout and source-scoping rules as any other report, saved under its own Synastry layout rather than sharing one with the natal or predictive exports.
The cover: first names only
New in v2.0.0: the cover page's large title now prints only both people's first names — e.g. "Angelina & Brad" rather than both full names — while the context line underneath (and the saved file's name) still carries both full names and birth dates in full, so nothing about who the report actually covers is lost, just kept off the cover itself.
What's next
That's the full set of ways AstroWatch turns a chart — or two — into a designed PDF: Report Manager → for reading on screen and shaping a layout, Export Natal Report → for one chart, Predictive Reports → for a moving ring, and this page for two people together. From here, the docs move on to Settings & Calculation.
