Western & Vedic Modes

One click on the top-bar switch turns the dashboard from a tropical Western wheel into a sidereal North Indian Kundli with Vedic cards — and back again.

AstroWatch speaks both languages of astrology. Instead of changing the zodiac, chart style and cards one by one, the Western | Vedic switch in the top bar changes the whole dashboard at once.

The dashboard top bar with the Western | Vedic switch — Western in sky blue, Vedic in saffron — next to the Synastry / Kundli pill and the date pill.

The Western | Vedic switch in the top bar.

Switching

Two ways, with the same result:

  • Click Western or Vedic on the switch in the dashboard's top bar. Western is shown in sky blue and Vedic in saffron; the active side is filled.
  • Choose View → Dashboard Mode → Western or Vedic. The tick always matches the dashboard.

AstroWatch remembers your mode and reopens in it next time.

Mode follows the zodiac

Vedic mode simply is the sidereal zodiac with an Indian chart, so the switch stays in step with everything else:

  • Choosing Sidereal in Settings → Calculation, or a North / South / East Indian style under Vedic → Chart Style, moves the switch to Vedic.
  • Choosing Tropical moves it to Western. Draconic counts as Western.
A sidereal wheel is allowed: pick Vedic, then Vedic → Chart Style → Wheel (Western) if you like reading sidereal positions on a wheel.

Two layouts, one dashboard

Each mode keeps its own card layout. Swap the Western Sun & Moon card for Transits Today, and the Vedic dashboard keeps whatever you chose for it — say Today's Pañcāṅga. See Customize Dashboard & Cards.

What you need

Western mode is part of every edition. Vedic mode needs AstroWatch Extended or Pro, because it uses the sidereal zodiac. On the Free edition, clicking Vedic opens the upgrade panel (Unlock sidereal astrology) and the dashboard stays Western. See Editions: Free, Extended & Pro.
