Vedic Suite Overview

AstroWatch 3.1 turns the Vedic toolkit into a complete Jyotish workspace — Panchang and Muhurta, Kundli Matching, Yogas, Shadbala, three daśā systems, KP, Varshaphal and a printable Kundli booklet. This page is the map.

Everything Vedic in AstroWatch now lives in one place: the Vedic menu in the top menu bar, between View and Tools. It sits there in both Western and Vedic mode, so you can open a Panchang or a Kundli Matching from any screen without changing how your dashboard looks. This page explains how the suite is organised, what you need to use it, and which guide covers each tool.

The Vedic menu at a glance

The menu is grouped by what you are trying to do. Separators split it into four blocks:

Two more Vedic outputs live in other menus: Reports → Export Kundli (PDF) writes the complete birth-chart booklet (Kundli PDF Booklet), and the Dosha card on the Vedic dashboard covers Manglik, Kāla Sarpa and Sade Sati (Doshas & Sade Sati).

The Vedic menu open in the top menu bar, showing Chart Style, Divisional Chart, Nakshatras, Vimshottari Daśā, Day Timings / Horā, Panchang, Yogas & Karakas, Shadbala & Bhava Bala, Varga Comparison, KP System, Kundli Matching and Varshaphal.

What you need

The Vedic Suite is part of AstroWatch Extended, and of course of Pro, which includes everything in Extended. On the Free edition the Vedic menu is still visible so you can see what is there: each locked item carries a small violet gem-and-crown mark at its right edge, and clicking it opens the upgrade panel instead of the tool. See Editions: Free, Extended & Pro for the full comparison.

Locked items are never greyed out. They stay clickable on purpose — the upgrade panel that opens tells you exactly what the tool does before you decide. Once you upgrade, the marks disappear and the tool opens straight away.

Sidereal, always

Every Vedic tool calculates in the sidereal zodiac, whatever your dashboard is currently showing. If you open Yogas & Karakas while the dashboard is a Western tropical wheel, AstroWatch quietly recasts the open profile's birth chart in sidereal for that dialog, using your saved Vedic settings:

  • Ayanamsa — Lahiri by default; seven more are available, plus a custom value.
  • Lunar node — Mean by default for sidereal charts (classical Vedic practice).
  • Vedic house system — Whole Sign by default, with Sri Pati, Placidus (KP) and Equal.
  • Lunar month — Purnimanta (North India) or Amanta (South / West India) for the Panchang.

All four live in Settings → Calculation (Calculation Settings). Extended saves them; the KP System is the one exception, because KP always uses its own Krishnamurti ayanamsa and Placidus cusps.

Which chart and which place

The tools fall into two families, and knowing which is which saves confusion:

Birth-chart toolsSky-of-the-day tools
Yogas & Karakas, Shadbala, Varga Comparison, KP, Varshaphal, Kundli Matching, Kundli PDFPanchang, Day Timings / Horā
Need an open profile. If none is open you'll see "Open a profile first."Work without a profile, for the app's current location (your Home Location, or the profile's own current location if it has one).

Nakshatras and the Daśā dialog read the chart on screen — normally the open profile's birth chart (Nakshatras shows the transiting planets on the Transit tab). KP's ruling planets and horary chart are cast for the open profile's current location at the present moment.

The sky-of-the-day tools open on today — or, if you open them from the Transit tab, on the moment the time slider is showing. That makes it easy to check the Panchang of a date you have scrubbed to on the timeline.

The Vedic dashboard

Click Vedic on the Western | Vedic switch in the top bar and the whole dashboard turns into a Jyotish workspace: a North Indian chart, Graha Positions and Graha Dṛṣṭi on the left, the Vimśottarī Daśā strip under the chart, the Dosha card on the right, and a Kundli pill that opens Kundli Matching. Western & Vedic Modes explains the switch, and Customize Dashboard & Cards shows how to swap in the five Vedic cards — Bhāva Table, Aṣṭakavarga, Tithi & Nakṣatra, Today's Pañcāṅga and Yogas at a Glance.

Vedic in Hindi — and in German or Turkish

With Settings → Language → हिन्दी every Vedic screen switches to Hindi: menus, dialogs, dashboard cards and even the labels inside the North, South and East Indian charts (लग्न, graha abbreviations and the (व) retrograde mark). German and Turkish translate the interface around the Vedic terms but keep Sanskrit names such as nakṣatra, tithi and Mahādaśā as they are, the way practitioners use them. See Interface Language.

Two layers in every tool

Each tool is built to be read at two depths. The top of every dialog gives the plain answer — a verdict, a strength label, the period running now. The tables underneath carry the professional detail: component values, end times to the minute, the rule that cancelled a dosha. Every footer states the method used (ayanamsa, house basis, classical source), so you always know what the numbers rest on.

The Vedic calculations were checked against established references — for example the Panchang against Drik Panchang (Diwali 2024, New Delhi: tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana end times within a minute), and KP Placidus cusps against Swiss Ephemeris.

Where to go next

If you're new to the suite, start with Western & Vedic Modes to set up the Vedic dashboard, then read Panchang and Kundli Matching — the two tools most people reach for first.
